100 years commemorating veterans all over the world

Veterans Day was originally called Armistice Day and commemorated the end of World War I. Unlike Memorial Day, when we remember those who gave their lives for our country.

On 11 November 1918 the Allies and Germany put into effect an armistice on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.

Several wars later and many date and some name changes after, we share this day's commemorations with several other countries.

In the United States of America The Veterans Day is a Federal Holiday with the National Ceremony held each year on November 11th at Arlington National Cemetery.

The ceremony commences precisely at 11:00 a.m. with a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns and continues inside the Memorial Amphitheater with a parade of colors by veterans' organizations and remarks from dignitaries.

The ceremony is intended to honor and thank all who served - living and dead- in the United States Armed Forces.

Veterans Day Facts

With this year's 100th Anniversary marked by the first ever attendance by the nation's president. Was he there for our veterans or to get the military parade he was denied? With the appearance by Trump at the NYC Veterans Parade, the nation is divided once more over layered emotions and issues.

Let this not over cast or cover up the true meaning and purpose of our veterans commemoration. We are safe and we are free because veterans around the globe made the world so for us all.
