parallel universe

beneath the sheltering sky
its vastness mocks and deludes us
into believing life is an inexhaustible well

NASA Image: Stellar Quake
impossible as it is to predict the precise moment of death
do we live life as a passing memory of what has been?
do we lie in anticipation expecting what is to be?

which moments are marked memorable and monumental?
flashing by unbearably, unmanageably, unattainably
instantaneously incredible, impractical, irrational

as the Masters and Sages proclaim
life is not limited by the number of breaths we take
living is measured by the moments that take our breath away

reach out
pierce the fine fabric
of the sheltering sky
take repose
