shades & shadows

Even spirituality has its shades and shadows. As cocreators in our universe we may not be in control of what happens but we are accountable for our response.

This starts with the acknowledgement and acceptance of our emotions and feelings. Not bypassing either with any pretense or avoidance. Easier said than done, right? The energetic impact can be scary and devastating.

transmuting trauma

From Catholicism to Tibetan Buddhism, Sufism to yoga - spiritual leaders have been brought to task for excessive behavior - particularly abuse in any form.

While all trauma can have a detrimental impact on survivors - those who experience it at the hands of the authorities they honor and revere may experience a multiplied wounding.

When the very tools and beliefs we draw upon for support to heal are thrown into doubt - the disillusionment has a profound impact.

The individual at a physiological personal level and the organization and community as a whole - have cause to question their beliefs and experiences.

We come to realize the ways our direct spiritual connection are clouded due to our dependency on the teacher. But through direct connection the teachings and practices can become our own.

Rather than bridging or borrowing through the relationship with a teacher or lineage we are empowered - as both person and practitioner.

That is how we not just come to our own terms but also learn to thrive as we breakthrough our trauma.

longing for. . . .advent. . . .easter. . . .spring

Let the thrill pass into and thru your DNA as fat rain drops are absorbed into newly turned earth to soak and fertilize it. Prepping for new life to push out into the world and embrace eternity. Lips parted in a smile of complete recognition as the palm of an upraised arm flattens forward, breaching the distance.

comparison and contrast

As I return from sunny tropics to winter wonderland, my reflections swing between the weirdly wired and wiped out state of the disjointed and discombobulated jet lagged body/mind.

When I am there I cannot help but miss what's here. Being here only makes me miss what was over there. Caught between worlds and the options and opportunities in either.

motion, movement, momentum

as I move into yet another place and unpack to create a new home from scratch I am made present to internal and external forces at play

I like simplifying, getting back to basics and being frugal about it - it's a creative process grounded in practical and applicable reality - what works and what does not

it's exhilirating to find a new place, case out the new neighborhood, work out the logistics of the move, decide what should go and what to keep

the change is exciting and expanding
