lives we are a-changing

October had friends from far and wide descending on New York City in unprecedented numbers and overlapping dates.

I found myself juggling times and commitments in a quickly overflowing calendar. Conflicting priorities and agendas only added to the turmoil and fuss.

It is amazing though what the mind and heart go through as we sift and organize our way through the muck and mire to get to matters of import.

Intentionally or otherwise the depth and value of a relationship are quickly and thoroughly evaluated, weighed and judged as fit or wanting.

Interesting surprises are summarily revealed. Years of friendship can quickly be chucked over family and other claims. Loyalties brought into light are examined and found solid or questionable.

Behaviors and characteristics that were beloved, entertaining or amusing are now connective tissue woven into the fabric of our beingness or aggravated barely recognizable irritants.

Profound discussions of the past have turned into a life long pursuit or mere obsessive rants.

We soon find that what we experienced and how we harbor them in our time apart either builds or shatters the image, memories and adjusted reality we hold of each other.

As we come together again or not.
