Pinay dream weavers

The Ayala Museum opens a new floor to showcase indigenous textile arts in the Philippines from the collection donated by Mercedes Zobel.

'Skeins of Knowledge, Threads of Wisdom' exhibit

The revamped textile exhibition, 'Skeins of Knowledge, Threads of Wisdom' demonstrate the ingenuity, creativity, adaptability, and sophistication of the early Filipinos. Woven dreams of our native women weavers.

These skills and techniques have been passed on for generations and manifest today in contemporary weaves, designs and fashion that continue to keep these traditional arts and crafts alive and current.

This exhibition curated by Dr. Patricia Araneta makes today’s viewers aware that among our indigenous communities are living examples of how we might be able to restore some balance in our lives, in our country, and among global communities.

These textiles are the essence and substance of Filipino community, environment, culture, tradition, spirit, and material. Linking our long-lost past, made manifest today - always alive and relevant. The opening of the 4th floor at Ayala Museum completes this onsite museum experience.
