The world can blame its colonizing empires for anti-homosexuality laws throughout colonies, particularly in the 19th century when the British Empire was at its peak. As of 2018, more than half of the 71 countries that criminalized homosexuality were former British colonies or protectorates.

The decolonization of how gender and sex have been constructed by Western philosophy and forced upon cultures around the world is essential to the safety of our trans relatives. 

When we talk about smashing the patriarchy, we are not doing so just for the lives of our "cis-ters"-- but for our trans siblings and other folks who are told by this oppressive system that they "deviate" from biology and culture. 

Gender non-conforming and queer individuals face stigma, discrimination and rejection, owing to their ambiguous gender expression. This needs to change. Folks should be able to express their preference without being subjected to discrimination, bias and judgement. 

LGBT rights by country or territory

No need to be neutral or blind either if we are more allowing and accepting of each other in any shape, style or preference. Stop enforcing a two sex system where one must fall into the gender binary of either male or female. There are far too many facets and nuances to try and box humans in so inhumanely. 

You are not ahistorical, or a "passing fad". You belong, you deserve to be safe and live a long, happy life. Your safety is a decolonial goal, not an afterthought. 

Let us uplift and rejoice in each other's presence and choice instead.
