no hope pope

Last year we posted about Dominance vs Reverence - how the Vatican's doctrine of discovery is actually a code of dominion over the conquered and how traditional teachings developed over thousands of years provide a much needed healing alternative for humanity and Mother Earth at this time.

Steven Newcomb's film "The Doctrine of Discovery: Unmasking the Domination Code" tells the story of how little known Vatican documents of the fifteenth century resulted in a tragic global momentum of domination and dehumanization. This led to law systems in the U.S. and Canada, and throughout the world, that are still used against Indigenous Nations and Peoples to this day.

The pope's recent visit to Canada has managed to rub even more salt on this open wound. The mixed bag of reactions to his inadequate apology has people divided. What we all see is an ailing old white man doing his best to clear his conscience without crucifying his church.

Sadly, it is not enough. What a public disaster. All the world's hope hang out to dry - like the sordid laundry that it is.

Governments and institutions like the Vatican need to do the work to re-educate and decolonize our histories. To reconnect with humanity and the reality of life today for the true purpose of our existence.

Yes, atrocities were committed in the name of God, king, and country - then and now. No, it does not have to continue this way. There are definitely a lot better alternatives moving forward.

We all need to join together in support of deconstructing extraction economies and supporting regenerative systems if we are to turn things around for the good of all on this earth.

By replacing empire driven perspectives with the ancestral creation practice of reverence for all life we can manage a more hopeful future for everyone and everything.

We all need to get on board together on this. End the divisive and destructive culture we created.
