devoid of integrity

For Filipino Americans who survived the yoke of the Marcoses' conjugal kleptocracy and dictatorship, September 11 dredges up too many dark and devastating horrors.

On his 104th birth anniversary, the scourge that is Ferdinand Marcos may be long dead. Yet his wife and spawn remain a Philippine treat and bleeding canker. Living on to perpetuate their entitled fantasies, empowered by all their ill-gotten wealth and boundless greed.

Marcos family thank Duterte for honoring their patriarch

Even now, the Marcos minions are relentless in their fanatic frenzy to rewrite history in the name of their doomed dictator.

The failed and current president of the Philippines is one of them and with their money and support has grown into another horrible political figure. One that is bleeding our county's coffers dry as its citizenry die in droves due to the world's worst disastrously mismanaged COVID administration.

grand cabal of corrupt Philippine politicians

When will this reign of terror ever end?

Over here in New York City, also infamous as another place of extremes - on the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, what progress have we made?

A new arrangement of the old Billy Joel hit, created to help NYC get back on its feet has been making the rounds. Could they have been more careful and considerate? NYC is like a cat running out of its god given nine lives.

We commemorate 9/11 because of the lives lost and the trauma suffered by the United States. Yet, we generally omit the part where we, in turn, multiplied that day’s horror and inflicted it on equally innocent Iraqi and Afghan civilians.

“New York State of Mind” for the city’s recovery & engagement

Finally facing the debacle of those two invasions, we now wonder what we might have done differently with the trillions of dollars squandered, to say nothing of the wasted treasure in human lives.

Our response to 9/11 was hopelessly aggressive and contributed to tens of thousands of civilian deaths in Afghanistan and Iraq - a war we had no right or reason to wage. Everything about it tuned into a Greek tragedy - fatally resorting to violence, mislabeled as power.

Capitol rioters plead guilty

The real cost of 9/11 is not measured in deaths and dollars but in the awful toll reflected in our warped national psyche. The hardening division into “real” Americans - mostly white compulsive flag wavers like those of January 6 at the Capitol - and the polyglot rest of us.

Twenty years after the Twin Towers collapsed, the Pentagon burned, and a field in Pennsylvania became a monument to the courage of ordinary people - where do we stand?

Too many police still outfit themselves like militant special forces than public safety officials. Too many unexplained deaths happen in their watch with too little accountability imposed.

Irresponsible leaders spew misinformation about imagined and made up threats and are given too much coverage and airtime by legitimate press.

blatant cowardice & willful arrogance

Fallacies sensationalized as news, false voter fraud claims, and socialism is devouring us - despite clear  evidence to the contrary. Driving Americans to storm their own Capitol as if it were a sane response - deluded that they were being patriots.

Democratic suicide is not an option folks. Wake up already! There are bigger issues on our plate now.
